My son has a sweet tooth so I seldom make something sweet at home.
I always like the basic moist chocolate cake which is very easy to make.It is a great chocolate cake which you will make over and over again.It has 3 basic parts
- Baking
- Making the ganach
- Assemble
I have made a ganache filling but you can always try different things like the vanilla butter cream,chocolate fudge or cream cheese as per your choice.
Ingredients:
- 225gm all purpose flour
- 300 gm sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 75 gm coco powder
- 20 gm coffee powder (coffee enhances the chocolate flavor)
- 2 tsp vanilla essence
- 150 ml warm milk
- 50 ml hot boiling water
- 3 eggs
- 180 gm melted butter
Hot water always breaks the gluten
Procedure:
- Preheat the oven to 365F
- Grease a 9 inch baking dish
- Dust it with flour
- Now mix all the dry ingredients
- Beat the eggs breaking one by one
- Add the melted butter slowly
- Make a creamy texture
- Add in all the dry ingredients
- Add the warm milk
- Add the vanilla essence
- Now whisk the mixture
- This time add the boiling water
- Now pour it into the baking dish
- Bake it for 35-40 minutes or until it’s done
- Put a skewer in the middle see if it comes clean
Cool down the cake for at least 2 hours
Now for the ganache
Ingredients:
- 100 gm chocolate chips ( I took the dark version)
- 80 gm double cream
Procedure:
- Heat the double cream don’t bring it to boil
- Pour it over the chocolate chips allow it to be like that for 5 minutes
- Now mix them together
- You will get a creamy chocolaty mixture
Cool it for 10-15 minutes
Assemble the cake:
- Layer the cake into 2 halves
- Spread the ganache into 2 halves
- Now put one layer above another
- Spread the mixture over the top and the sides
You can just go with the swish and swirl process or take a piping bag and go ahead with the decoration in both the case the cake will taste the same😉😉😉.
