Basic sponge cake (baking for beginners)

We all ask for the recipe whenever we see a fancy cake. But the cake only becomes a fancy cake only if you have a proper basic cake for the presentation.

So, today I thought of sharing a basic recipe of a simple sponge cake for all the beginner.

Ingredients for sponge cake:

  • 100 gm all purpose flour
  • 80gm sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 3 large eggs
  • 100gm butter
  • 30 ml milk

Procedure for sponge cake:

  • Preheat the oven at 375F
  • Creme the butter and sugar
  • Now add the eggs
  • Add the vanilla essence and the baking powder
  • Add the flour
  • Mix by cut and fold method
  • Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes or until the cake is baked
  • Put a skewer in the centre after 36 minutes and see if it comes clear, then its cooked or give more 3-5 minutes

Serve this cake with tea or coffee

Or you can use this as base cake for variety of fancy cake.

You can just add a layer of frosting in the middle to give a special touch
