We all ask for the recipe whenever we see a fancy cake. But the cake only becomes a fancy cake only if you have a proper basic cake for the presentation.
So, today I thought of sharing a basic recipe of a simple sponge cake for all the beginner.
Ingredients for sponge cake:
- 100 gm all purpose flour
- 80gm sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1tsp vanilla essence
- 3 large eggs
- 100gm butter
- 30 ml milk
Procedure for sponge cake:
- Preheat the oven at 375F
- Creme the butter and sugar
- Now add the eggs
- Add the vanilla essence and the baking powder
- Add the flour
- Mix by cut and fold method
- Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes or until the cake is baked
- Put a skewer in the centre after 36 minutes and see if it comes clear, then its cooked or give more 3-5 minutes

Serve this cake with tea or coffee
Or you can use this as base cake for variety of fancy cake.
You can just add a layer of frosting in the middle to give a special touch
