Tortoise cake

I love baking cakes. But for a good cake you will need a good sponge cake for the base. Once you get the recipe you can turn it to a fancy bakery.

Sponge cake base should be so airy so that it can easily suck up the liquors, frosting, fruit juice or syrups when you add to it.

You can give any shape you want to give to your cake but it should taste great as great as it looks right????

This time we made a tortoise theme cake, as my son’s recent favourite is ninja mutant 😜😜😜😜

So for that let’s hope onto the recipe.

Ingredients for the cake:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 100 gm softened butter
  • 80 gm sugar
  • 120 gm all purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • Preheat the oven at 375F
  • In a bowl add the softened butter
  • Add the sugar
  • Now creme the butter and the sugar together
  • Add in the eggs one by one
  • Add add all the dry ingredients
  • Now slowly add the milk and the hot water
  • Bake the cake for 35-40 or until fully baked… the skewer comes clean when inserted in the middle
  • Try this skewer technique after 35 minutes

Ingredients for the frosting:

  • Creme cheese frosting👇

  • 3-4 drops of green food color
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Fondant
  • Again 3-4 drops of green food color

  • Roll out the fondant
  • Add the food color
  • Now make the shape of head and hands
  • Add good color to the cream cheese frosting
  • Cut the cake into 2 halves
  • Spread the cream cheese frosting
  • Layer them up
  • Now coat with the remaining cream cheese from top and sides
  • Attach the head, hand and legs

Your tortoise cake is ready
