Upma or uppumavu is a dish originating from Indian Subcontinent.It is most common in South Indian, Maharashtra and Sri Lanka Tamil breakfast.
It is a perfect substitute to your same old bacon and eggs or cereals for breakfast.It is very healthy as it requires very less amount of oil and lots of veggies and on the plus side it takes very less time to cook.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup semolina
- 1tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp red chilli flakes
- 1 cup of mixed vegetables like carrot, peas,green beans, sweet corn
- 300 gm warm water
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbs vegetable oil
- 2 green chillies chopped (optional)
- 1 small tomato chopped ( optional)
Procedure:
- In a pan first roast the semolina for 5-7 minutes
- Keep aside
- In a deep dish pan add oil
- Now temper some mustard seeds and chilli flakes
- Add the veggies and fry them
- Now add the semolina
- Fry them together
- Add the warm water and slow cook the porridge
- You will see slowly the semolina will suck up all the water
- Now cover and cook in the lowest flame for 5 minutes
- Your Upma or semolina savoury porridge is ready
- You can add some nuts to it
