It is a moist, airy, rich chocolate layer pastry Devil’s Chocolate Cake. It has more chocolate than usual chocolate cake.
To qualify as a Devil’s Food Cake (the antithesis to an angel food cake), the cake should be very dark, rich in chocolate taste but still have a delicate moist texture. This cake meets all of those qualifications.
For specific ingredients, a Devil’s Food Cake needs to include cocoa powder, baking soda and hot coffee or water.
It makes a 2-layer, 8-inch cake

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 3 tbs Coco powder
- 3 eggs
- 100 gm softened butter/ 1 stick butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1tsp vanilla essence
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup boiling water
For fudge Frosting :
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 3 tbs sour cream
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Procedure for cake:
- Preheat the oven to 360F
- Cream the butter and sugar together
- Microwave the chocolate chips with 1 tbs butter at high power for 1 minute
- Add the eggs one by one and whisk until you get a creamy texture
- Add the vanilla essence
- Add the molten chocolate
- Now in another bowl sieve in the dry ingredients
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and bring them together with cut and fold method
- Now add the boiling water because it breaks through the gluten
- Whisk gently and keep aside
- Now pour in a 8 inch square baking tray
- Bake the cake for 30-35 minutes or until cooked
- Cool down the cake for 2 hours
Procedure for fudge frosting:
- In a bowl microwave the chocolate chips with 1 tbs butter at high power for 1 minute
- Let that sit for 2 minutes
- Now you can see the chocolate has melted and cooled
- Whisk the whipping cream, sour cream and vanilla essence together to get that thik creamy fudge
Assembling the cake:
- Cut the cake in half
- Drizzle some honey water to make the sponge more soft and moist (2 tbs honey and 1/2 cup water and mix it)
- Now layer both sides with a single layer of fudge
- Put one layer on the other and again spread some more fudge and cover the top
- Now cut the cake into square pastries
- You can decorate with some whipping cream on the top
