We have had so many kinds of cake but this cake is unique one. It’s made from semolina.
Basbousa(or Hareeseh, or Nammoura, is a traditional Middle Eastern sweet cake that originated in Egypt. It is made from a semolina batter and sweetened with orange flower water or rose water simple syrup. It is called basbousa in Egyptian and Hareeseh in Arabic and shamali in Armenian . The Persian name for the cake, revani, has also entered the Greek and Turkish.

Preparation time: 15-20 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
- 1 cup semolina/sooji
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 th cup yoghurt
- 3/4th cup of any oil (except mustard😁)
- 1/4th cup +3/4 th cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 8-10 almonds
Procedure:
- First make a sugar syrup
- In pan add 3/4th cup of sugar and 1 cup of water
- Dissolve it
- Turn off your heat after 1 boil comes
- Half cover it a and keep aside to cool
- In a bowl add 2 eggs and beat it
- Add 1/4 cup sugar and whisk it
- Add 1/4 th cup yoghurt
- Mix when you can see no lumps
- Now add 1 tsp of baking powder and 1 tsp of vanilla essence
- Whisk together
- Now add 1/2 cup all purpose flour and 1 cup semolina
- Mix and you will get a grainy batter
- Now add the almonds to this cake
- Bake it for 1 hour in preheated 350F oven
- After baking pour over the sugar syrup and allow the absorb all the liquid
- Allow it to rest for at least 30inutes and enjoy
