It is another no onion/no garlic recipe. It is a traditional Bengali recipe cooked with potatoes and lightly spiced with nutty poppy seed paste.
Aloo Posto, the name itself is good enough to bring sunshine on any dull day. A typical Bengali thali (be it veg or non-veg) will always include steamed rice (bhaat) , lentil soup (daal) and alu posto. A slim wedge of gondho raj lebu (king of lime) and kacha lonka (fresh green chilli) lying on side will only increase the glamour quotient of the thali.
This apparently bland looking dish with just potato and poppy seeds is capable of rousing much passion among food lovers.
I seldom cook this dish on afternoons when I want to have something to comfort my appetite but don’t want to give much effort. Its a quick and easy plus fulfills your ‘comfort food’ category too.

Serve it with steamed rice or you can have chapattis/tortillas.
I generally don’t add onions to it, but if you want you can add some fried onions at the end.
