It is a Indian Snack.Mainly from the South Indian cuisine.
It needs just a handful ingredients and that too from your everyday kitchen.
It is basically a fluffy fritter and have a very subtle spice taste. It can be consumed as a breakfast or can be consumed as snack.
Let’s make Medu Vada in my style👇👇👇
Type- Snack,breakfast
Preparation time- 8-10 hours( overnight soaking)+ 10-15 minutes (grinding +adding ingredients)
Cooking time-5-8 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 cups urad dal ( skinless split black lentils)
- 2-3 tsp water
- 2 tbs chopped ginger
- 2 tbs chopped green chillies ( adjust heat according to your taste buds)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbs of hot oil
- 1 tbs whole cumin
- 1/4 th cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper
- 5-6 curry leaves chopped
- 2 tbs rice flour
Procedure:
- In a bowl wash the lentils thoroughly 4-5 times
- Now soak the lentils overnight ( if you want to have it in breakfast soak it in the night and if you want to have it for snack soak it in the morning)
- After soaking drain all the water
- Grind them with adding 2-3 tsp of water
- Now add rest of all the above ingredients
- Add 2 tbs hot oil into the batter because it will make it crisp
- And grease your palms with either water or oil
- Take small amount in your palm,pat it and fry it
- If you want you can make whole in the middle and fry
- Fry them crisp golden brown
- And its done
