Chicken Tehri recipe|| One pot Rice and Chicken whole meal||Step by step method to make authentic Chicken Tehri

Tehri/Tehari/Tahari is an aromatic, mouthwatering rice dish very popular in Bangladesh. It also popular in India.It’s most important introduction is that it is an one pot rice dish which needs no side dish to compliment ๐Ÿ˜ŠIt is very easy to cook,if you keep in mind few tricks and you will get a fine free flowing aromatic rice.1) Do pre soak the rice at least 45 minutes,we almost go for 2 hours2) Drain the water properly3) Ratio of rice:water4) Timing5) Heat controlThat’s all you need for a perfect Chicken Tehri ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹My kids just love it with a side of Raita (recipe link shared below)Let’s make Chicken Tehri…Type- RicePreparation time- 15-20 minutes + Soak rice for 45minutes-1 hour minimumCooking time- 50-55 minutesIngredients:

  • 1.5 lb with bone or boneless chicken
  • 1 large tomato diced
  • 2 jalepenos (optional)
  • 3-5 green chillies
  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbs ginger garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 3-4 cloves (crushed)
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick (crushed)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • For the spice mix- 2 tbs red chilli powder,2 tbs coriander powder,2 tbs garam masala,1/2 tsp turmeric powder,1 tbs paprika (kashmiri lal mirch)
  • 1/4th+1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 cups Basmati rice (soaked for 45 minutes-1 hour minimum and then drained)
  • 4 cups of hot water

Procedure:

  • In pan add 5 tbs cooking oil
  • Add all the crushed whole spices and 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Fry and add 1 cup chopped onions
  • Add sugar for caramelization
  • Fry till translucent and then add the chicken pieces
  • Fry and add 2 tbs ginger garlic paste and fry
  • When you can see the chicken has changed it’s color,then add the diced tomatoes
  • Add salt to taste and cook till everything softened
  • Add 1/4 th cup chopped coriander leaves and cover and cook for 15 minutes until oil separates on a medium flame
  • Now add the pre soaked Basmati rice
  • Mix and add 4 cups of hot water (water should be double the amount of rice,it might be plus minus 50 ml)
  • Keep on cooking,uncovered on a almost medium flame for upto when the water becomes bubbly or almost dry,then cover it
  • Cook it covered on low flame for 10 minutes and its done
  • Turn off the heat,and give it a standing time of 5-8 minutes and enjoy
