Chicken 65|| crispy juicy succulent chicken cooked with a spicy tangy sauce infused with a flavor of curry leaves|| party starters

Chicken 65 is a spicy deep fried chicken dish originating from Hotel Buhari, Chennai, India as an entree or quick snack. The flavor of the dish can be attributed to red chillies and curry leaves but the taste may vary.

It is a very appetising dish and its a must order when ever we visit a restaurant. It is not that it needs very difficult ingredients to prepare it. It really needs all the ingredients already present in your kitchen. The curry leaves gives a beautiful flavour to it and the chilli garlic sauce adds the main taste to it.

This recipe is a keeper and We don’t know how many times we’ve made it.

Let’s prepare Chicken 65 ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

Type- Snacks, Appetizer

Preparation time- 15-20 minutes

Cooking time- 25-30 minutes

Ingredients for fried chicken:

  • 2 lb/1 kg boneless chicken pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbs paprika (kashmiri red chilli powder)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbs crushed black pepper
  • 4 tbs cornflour

Procedure:

  • In a bowl add all the ingredients except the chicken
  • Whisk them and then add the chicken pieces
  • Coat the chicken properly
  • And give it a rest of 15-20 minutes
  • Then deep fry the chicken and fry until golden brown
  • The whole time maintain a temperature from medium-medium high flame

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • 1 tsp whole cumin seeds
  • 3-4 whole red chillies
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 3-4 slit green chillies (adjust accordingly)
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tbs ginger paste
  • 4 tbs chilli garlic sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 drops of red food color for that restaurant effect (optional)
  • 2-3 tbs water if required

Procedure for the sauce:

  • In a pan add 3 tbs oil
  • In that oil add 1 tsp cumin seeds and the whole red chillies and fry till aroma comes
  • Then add the curry leaves and fry till you get the splattering sound
  • Add the chopped garlic and fry
  • Add the ginger paste and the green chillies
  • Now add the 4 tbs chilli garlic sauce and mix

  • Now add 2-3 drops of red food color
  • And mix
  • If it dries out add 2-3 tbs water
  • And mix and the sauce is ready too

Procedure for assembling Chicken 65:

  • In the e sauce we prepared add all the fried chicken pieces
  • And coat well
  • Try to do it on a medium high flame and keep on moving your laddle
  • And its done
  • Enjoy juicy chicken 65
