Alu bhorta/bharta/chokha (Indian Style Spiced Mashed Potatoes) are the different names of the mashed potato from different regions of India like Bengal,Odissa,Rajasthan etc.

Whenever I feel like cooking something from my childhood days comfort food, then this is always on my menu list. Steaming hot rice with this alu bhorta and a bhaja moong daal/simple moong beans soup.

It is flavorful and have a slight fiery aroma from the dried red chillies…..it can also be used as filling for sandwiches or stuffing for parathas (fried flat bread)
