Chaat is one of opular snack in North India owing its inviting ,it has become famous all over India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Papdri is a crispy base, Chaana is chickpeas and Chaat is a fingerlicking filler made out of hot and sweet chutneys along with potatoes,tomatoes,onions.
Chaat in Hindi means licking,so aptly it is finger licking good.It can be served as a snack.
Let’s make Chaana papdi chaat…in my style😋😋😋;
Type: Snack
Preparation time: 15-20 minutes (if you make Papdis at the same time) otherwise 10-15 minutes
Cooking time- 10-15 minutes
Ingredients for making the Papdi:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp carrom seeds (ajwain)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbs softened butter/ghee
- Water (1/4 th cup we required)
Procedure for making the Papdi:
- In a bowl add all the ingredients
- Now mix the butter with your hand and spread it even
- At this point add water to make a hard dough
- We needed around 1/4th cup water/ 4 tbs of water
- Rest it for 5-10 minutes
- After 5-10 minutes roll out the dough
- You can divide it into 2 halves then roll out separately or anything that is easier for you (remember kitchen your rules😛)
- And take a cookie cutter or cap to make papdis
- Deep fry them until golden brown
- Let them cool down,then you can also store in jars for future use also
Ingredients for the making of Chaana Papdi Chaat:
- 150 gm boiled chickpeas ( Chaana)
- 1/2 cup boiled potatoes
- 1/4 th cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 th cup chopped coriander leaves
- 3 tbs green chillies (may vary)
- 1/4 th cup chopped onions
- 3 tsp beaten yoghurt+4 tbs beaten yoghurt
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp chaat masala
- 1/4 th tsp roasted spices
- 1/4 th tsp black salt
- 2 tsp hot green chutney
- 3 tsp sweet tanay chutney
- For garnishing- some chopped coriander leaves,some sevs/bhujia,hot green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney
- Papdis 6-8
Procedure for making of chaana Papdi chaat:
- In a bowl add the boiled chickpeas/chaana
- Add the tomatoes, potatoes,onions, coriander leaves and green chillies
- Now add 3 tsp beaten yoghurt
- Add salt to taste
- Add 1/4 tsp of- Chaat masala,black salt and roasted spices
- And mix well
- Now for plating
- On a plate first arrange the Papdis
- On them add the spicy chickpeas and potato mix
- Over it add the 3 tbs beaten yoghurt
- Add 3 tsp of sweet tamarind chutney
- 2 tsp hot green chutney
- Sprinkle some roasted spices,chaat masala,some black salt
- At this point garniah with some chopped coriander leaves and sevs/bhujia
- And its ready….Enjoy
