Fada ni khichdi/Dalia khichdi/broken wheat khichdi||perfect for weight watchers and perfect for nutrition

‘Fada’ is actually broken wheat or walk known as the Dalia. This dish is famous in India specially in Gujarat.It is a wholesome dish and is really good for those who want to check on the cholesterol levels and wants to loose weight. You can easily quit rice and switch to Fada/broken wheat as it is also rich in fibreIt is a simply easy recipe,which needs veggies and 2-3 tbs of butter or ghee or if you want just use oil. It is an one pot nutritional meal.Let’s make Fada ni khichdi/Dalia khichdi/broken wheat khichdi…in my style👇👇👇

Preparation time- 10 minutes

Cooking time- 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 th cup broken wheat/Fada/Dalia
  • 1/2 cup moong daal (yellow moong beans)
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 whole red chilli
  • 5-6 mustard curry leaves
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbs ghee (butter)
  • 1.5 tbs oil
  • 1/4 th cup blanched peas
  • 1/4 th chopped carrots
  • 1/4 th cup chopped beans
  • 1/4 th cup sweet corn
  • 1 potato chopped into small cubes
  • 1 large tomato chopped
  • 1/4 th chopped cilantro/coriander leaves for garnishing

Procedure:

  • In a bowl add the 3/4th cup fada/Dalia/broken wheat
  • In that add 1/2 moong daal/yellow moong beans
  • Soak them for 10 minutes and then wash them
  • Pressure cook them until 2 whistles and then release the heat
  • If you want you can cook them in stew pot and cook until they are boiled
  • In another pan add 2 tbs oil and 1 tbs ghee (or you can cook it totally in ghee or totally in oil)
  • Add 1 tsp mustard seeds,1 tsp cumin seeds and 1 whole red chilli
  • Add 5-6 curry leaves and fry
  • Then add the potatoes and fry for 5-6 minutes on a medium flame
  • Add the veggies and keep on frying for more 5-8 minutes on a medium flame
  • Add 1 tomato chopped and fry till soft
  • Add 1 tsp turmeric powder and salt to taste
  • Mix them
  • Now add the boiled broken wheat and lentils
  • Mix them
  • If you want a bit runny you can add 1/4 th cup water
  • Mix and cook for more 4-5 minutes on a medium low flame
  • And its done
  • Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves
  • If you want drizzle some another spoon of butter or ghee (clarified butter)
