Tandoori Momos|| unique tasty dish|| ideal for parties and get togethers

Momos it originated from Nepal but for its popularity it’s tastes varies in different countries.

Even it has so many varities like steamed momo,fried momo,pan fried momo, cheesy momo and my favorite is Tandoori Momos.

It’s a fusion of authentic Nepali momos with Punjabi Cuisine.

It’s tangy and spicy from outside with a crispier crunch and filled with a tandoori flavored filling from inside.

For veg tandoori momos just replace 200 gm chicken with 1/2 cup chopped cabbage+1/2 cup chopped carrots and 1/2 cup chopped cauliflower

Now let’s start making Tandoori Momos in my style๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves/cilantro
  • 1 tbs chopped garlic
  • 1 tbs chopped ginger
  • 1/4 th lb/200 gm boiled and shredded chicken (boil the chicken with 1 tsp salt+1 tsp black pepper)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 boiled roughly mashed potato
  • 1 tbs paprika/kashmiri lal mirch
  • 2 tbs tandoori Masala
  • Juice of 1/2 a lime

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water (at room temperature) approximately

Ingredients for the batter:

  • 2 tbs yoghurt
  • 3 tbs gramflour (besan)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbs tandoori masala
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbs paprika (kashmiri lal mirch)
  • Juice of 1/2 a lime
  • 1 tsp amchur/mango powder
  • 1 tbs mustard oil

Procedure for the filling:

  • In a pan add 3 tbs oil on a medium high flame and add 1/2 cup chopped onions+1 tbs chopped garlic+1 tbs chopped ginger
  • Fry till aroma comes and now add 1 boiled roughly mashed potatoes and mix
  • To that add 200 gm boiled chicken shredded
  • To that add some spices – 1 tbs paprika (kashmiri lal mirch) and 2 tbs tandoori masala
  • Mix and then add squeeze fresh lime juice and 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves/cilantro
  • Our filling is ready and keep it aside

Procedure for the dough and frying the momos:

  • In a bowl add 1 cup all purpose flour
  • To that add l tsp salt and 2 tsp vinegar
  • Give it a quick mix
  • Now add 1/2 cup water gradually to knead a semi tight dough
  • Our dough is also ready
  • Keep it aside and move onto the final step
  • Pinch small roundels and roll it out thin
  • Roll like it’s thick in the middle and thinner as it rolls out
  • Put 1 tbs of the filling and start folding from all sides
  • Deep fry them and don’t over brown them
  • Keep them side

Procedure for the Tandoori batter and making the Momos:

  • In a bowl add 2 tbs yoghurt and to that add 1 tbs ginger garlic paste
  • Add juice of 1/2 a lime+1 tbs paprika+2 tbs tandoori masala+1 tsp garam masala
  • Whisk it until smooth
  • Don’t add water,add 1 tbs mustard oil
  • Mix and batter is ready
  • Put all the momos and coat in the batter
  • Heat up a pan and add 2 tbs oil and heat on a medium high flame
  • Now add all the momos and fry until you get brown marks on both sides
  • Our Tandoori Momos are ready to serve
