Red Velvet Cake birthday cake with cream frosting|| simple steps to perfect moist red velvet cake

Red Velvet Cake is by far the most favorite cake of mine.

It is an upgraded version of a vanilla cake having a tanginess of buttermilk. This cake is super moist with a velvety texture. When you dig into the creamy filling of cake and reach into the cake, your palate my friend is elevated!!!

Perfectly fluffy cake made out of 2 8″ cakes and divided to make a 4 layer cakes is a showstopper on any special occasions.

Let’s make Red Velvet Cake for birthday party….in my style👇👇👇

Type- Cake

Preparation time- 20-25 minutes for cake +12-15 minutes for frosting

Cooking time- 30-35 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean

Ingredients for the dry ingredients:

  • 3 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Ingredients for the wet ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk (3/4th cup sour cream+1 1/2 cup water OR 1.5 cup milk to that add 3 tbs vinegar or lime juice and microwave for 30 secs,shake it and rest it for 1-2 minutes and buttermilk is ready)
  • 1 tbs vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 tbs red food color
  • 3/4th cup melted butter

Ingredients for cream cheese frosting:

  • 12 ounces (340gm) cream cheese
  • 8 ounces butter (1/2 cup))(227gm)
  • 26 ounces (737gm) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • We used 5-6 yellow food color as mine was a ironman cake

Procedure for the red velvet cake:

  • In a bowl add 3 cups of all purpose flour to that add 2 tbs cocoa+1 tsp baking soda+1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Give it a quick mix,sift it and keep it aside
  • Make buttermilk by adding 3/4 th sour cream + 1 1/4 th cup water and mix
  • Keep it aside
  • In another bowl add 3/4 th cup softened butter and whisk for 1 minute
  • In that add 2 cups of sugar and whisk
  • At this point add 2 eggs and whisk until smooth
  • Now add 1 tbs vinegar and 1 cup buttermilk and again whisk
  • When everything is evenly mixed add 1 tbs vanilla essence
  • Add 1 tbs red food color and mix
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and whisk again
  • If you need you can add some more color
  • Our batter is now ready
  • Bake it on a preheated 350F oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes clean
  • With this batter you can make 2 8″ cake or 1 12″ cake
  • Let it cool now,on between let’s make our cream cheese frosting

Procedure for cream cheese frosting and assembling the cake:

  • In a bowl add 1 8 ounce cream cheese+ 1 12 ounce softened butter
  • Whisk it and add 26 ounces of powdered sugar
  • Whisk it and add 1 tbs vanilla essence
  • We’ve added few drops out yellow food color to match my ironman theme cake
  • Slice the cake into halves
  • Make a sweet syrup by adding 3 tbs honey+6 tbs water and mix
  • Poke holes so that the syrup can sip in
  • Brush the syrup
  • Take one layer poke holes,brush the syrup
  • Apply the cream cheese frosting and even it out
  • Repeat the process for all the layers
  • After that frost the cake from outside
  • Decorate the cake,the way you like
  • We went for an Ironman cake, as per requested by my son on his birthday 🥳
