Uttapam is a south Indian dish and is popular dish. It is a very healthy dish and that too 100% veg.
Now it has an authentic way of cooking by soaking rice for almost 24 hours. But this is a quick and instant recipe. It needs no soaking ,no fermentation.
Just we need sooji/rava/semolina,yoghurt and water that’s all. It needs what is always present in your home. It needs no extra skills or any special machine to cook it.
So,let’s start making Rava Uttapam or Semolina pancakes…in my style 👇👇👇
Type- Breakfast
Cooking time- 12-15 minutes
Preparation time- 5-6 minutes every batch when optimum temperature reached
Ingredients:
- 1 cup samolina or sooji or rava
- 1/2 cup yoghurt or curd
- 1/2 cup water (approximately)
- Salt to taste (if required)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbs oil
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
- For coconut chutney- 1/2 cup grated coconut,1 tbs chana daal (split Bengal gram),1 tsp salt,1 tbs sugar,2-3 tbs water, and 2 green chillies
Procedure:
- In a bowl add 1 cup of semolina or rava or sooji
- In that add 1/2 cup yoghurt +1/2 cup water approximately (it might be less or more depending on the sooji or rava or semolina)
- Mix them well
- Give it a rest of 5-6 minutes
- In between chop up your veggies like- we need 1/2 cup chopped onions,1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves,1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- Now add 1/2 tsp baking soda to the batter
- And add 2 tbs oil and whisk
- Now preheat your griddle
- Brush with some oil
- Take 1 laddle full and pour over
- If you think that you’ve overpoured,then swirl your pan a bit to get evenly thick Uttapam
- After 1-2 minutes top it up with chopped onions, chopped tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves
- When you feel that one side is cooked then flip and keep on frying on the other side
- Your Rava Uttapam or Semolina pancakes are ready
For the quick coconut chutney
- In blender add 1/2 cup grated coconut
- To that add 2 green chillies,1 tbs chana daal or split Bengal gram,1 tsp salt, 1 tbs sugar and 2-3 tbs water
- Blend and your coconut chutney is ready
