Masala Oats – Oats are such an ingredient which has all the nutrients, considerable fat and some emulsifier which is perfect for your health and weight loss.
It is easy to cook and is quick fix. It is mushy in look but when you taste it the oats come in whole in mouth. We made this with very less spice that is,we need only turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
So,let’s make Masala Oats…in my styleπππ
Type- Breakfast, lunch or dinner
Preparation time- 8-10 minutes
Cooking time- 15-18 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oats
- 2 cups of water
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tbs oil
- 1 small tomato chopped
- 1 small potato diced
- 1/2 cup veggies- like carrots, beans and sweet corn
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1 tsp chopped ginger
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 2-3 green chillies chopped
- 1/4 th chopped coriander leaves or cilantro
- Cheese and chopped coriander leaves or cilantro for garnishing
Procedure:
- To a pan add 2 tbs oil and heat it on a medium flame
- Temper it with 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Then add 1/2 cup chopped onions,and sweat it
- Add the diced potatoes and fry for 3-4 minutes on a medium flame
- Then add 1 tsp chopped ginger
- Keep on frying it
- Add 1 chopped tomato
- Then add some veggies and mix
- Add salt to taste and some spices like 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp red chilli powder and mix
- Cover and cook for 5-7 on a medium flame or until the tomatoes are soft
- Then add 2-3 chopped green chillies and 1 cup of oats and mix
- When the oats are well blended with the spices then add 2 cups of water and mix
- Cover and cook for 10 minutes on medium flame and its done
- Add 1/4 th cup chopped coriander leaves or cilantro and mix
- Turn off the heat and give it a standing time of 3-5 minute and dish it out
- Healthy and tasty Masala Oats is ready and served
